Executive Director--Violet Lester OUR MISSION The mission of the McDowell County Redevelopment Authority Mission is to eliminate slum, blighted or deteriorated areas by providing safe, clean, sanitary housing, thereby promoting the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of McDowell County. The Redevelopment Authority was charged by the McDowell County Commission in September 1992 to enforce the state building codes in McDowell County. In 1997, the Redevelopment Authority added FEMA code enforcement to its responsibilities.

We are open from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday and are located on the 2nd floor of the County Commission building in Welch.
